Q. WHAT IS POLYURETHANE FOAM?
A. Polyurethane Foam is a two part liquid that when spray-applied, expands up to 30% to form a monolithic, seamless, lightweight roof surface normally used in low slope roofing systems.

Q. IS IT NECESSARY TO COAT SPRAY-APPLIED (SPF) FOAM ROOFING?
A. Yes, Polyurethane foam must be coated to protect the foam from the destructive U.V. rays from the sun. Polyurethane roof foam must always be coated with white high- reflective acrylic, silicone or urethane coatings for foam protection and energy savings benefits.

Q. IS YOUR ROOF COATING ENERGY STAR APPROVED?
A. Yes, Our "Kool Kote" coatings have been tested and meet the ASTM Reflectance Standards for Initial Solar Reflectance and (3) year reflectance requirements. SWD 1929R and SWD 1929F acrylic white "Kool-Kote"coatings are shown on The Energy Star and California Qualified Product Lists.

Q. IS YOUR ROOF COATING APPROVED BY THE COOL ROOF RATING COUNCIL?
A. Yes, SWD 1929F "Kool-Kote" coating has been tested and approved to ASTM standards and is listed by the CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council) for Solar Reflectance of 83% and Thermal Emittance of 92%.

Q. IS A SPRAY-APPLIED FOAM ROOF SYSTEM EXPENSIVE?
A. The price of a SPF system, although higher than common built-up roofs can actually be 30 % less when considering the 'Life-cycle costs of the roof over a period of time. Heating and cooling costs can drop dramatically with SWD reflective coatings that may reduce air conditioning bills up to 50%, according to the EPA.

Q. HOW LONG DOES POLYURETHANE FOAM LAST?
A. Polyurethane foam has been shown to last 25 years without internal degradation. Ari-Thane Foam Products have been successfully installing SWD Urethane Company foam roof systems since 1972.

Q. DOES POLYURETHANE FOAM INSULATE MY ROOF?
A. Yes, It has an R-value of 6.8 per inch of foam and may be spray-applied at greater thickness') for additional insulation values.

Q. CAN I WALK ON MY SPF ROOF?
A. Yes, SPF has a normal compressive strength of 40-50 psi. and can be walked on within 24 hours. Tell your tradesmen however, they must check with us prior to doing any work on your roof in order to maintain your warranty.

Q. WHAT ABOUT FIRE RATINGS?
A. Ari-Thane spray-applied SPF SYSTEMS HAVE UL 790, FM and ICC (International Code Council) classifications. SPF will burn and has a flame spread characteristic similar to white pine.

Q. WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY DO I HAVE ON MY SPF ROOF SYSTEM?
A. SWD Urethane Co. and it's affiliated contracting companies, offer a 'Single Source' warranty. This is extremely important to you, as it guarantees that we take responsibility for the performance of the materials and the quality of the application (including labor and materials). The manufacturer and applicator jointly warranty your roof(s)

Q. DOES POLYURETHANE FOAM ABSORB WATER?
A. NO, SPF is a closed cell product that does not absorb water. It does however, have a low vapor transmission rate which allows the roof to breathe and keep moisture from forming under the foam surface.

The advantages of sprayed foam in your home:

  • Compared to other technologies, All Season's Foam Insulation is a less expensive method of building an energy efficient home.

  • A more energy efficient home means that energy costs can usually be reduced between 30 and 50%.

  • A more comfortable home, free from drafts and cold spots.

  • A quieter home because All Season's Foam Insulation creates a continuous sound barrier against outside noises.

  • A healthier home - when used with a mechanical ventilation system, superior indoor air quality provides your family with a much healthier place in which to live.

Avoid Embarassment

Another very commonly overlooked interior application is controlling sound transmission of falling water, running water or other embarrassing noises. Lavatories, water closets, utility rooms, plumbing lines can be easily insulated against noise during initial construction.

Reduce Noise Between Floors

Insulation Spray, applied between floors of multilevel dwellings helps reduce airborne noise such as voices, radios, televisions and other annoying sounds. In combination with resilient channels and reduces the impact or foot-fall noises very common in today’s homes.
